Hotek accelerates rollout of webapp to replace keycards in hotels

This allows hotels to meet strict hygiene requirements in the corona era.

Hotel security expert Hotek accelerates the rollout of the GuestKey web application, which allows hotels to replace their keycards and hotel folders. This allows hotels to meet strict hygiene requirements in the corona era.

GuestKey is a web application that allows guests to open the door of their hotel room. It is a replacement for the, according to Hotek, unhygienic keycards that are now in use in many hotels. The application also replaces the information folders that hotels often provide within the hotelroom.

The webapp was already in development, but according to Hotek, the demand for it is great right now. Hotels set themselves up for the one-and-a-half-meter society, for example with cough screens at the reception and arrows on the floor for walking directions. Replacing keycards and hotel folders can be part of the measures, Hotek says.

The launch of GuestKey at Golden Tulip Ampt van Nijkerk will take place on Friday 8 May. Hotek equipped all 123 hotel doors with the new technology. With this, guests can open their own hotel door and the door to the swimming pool, but also call room service. This is done by opening the web app on any modern smartphone. There is no need to download a separate app.
